Health and Hygiene

We are unable to look after children who are ill; this is because our own family, your child and others whom we care for will suffer in terms of health, well-being and safety. If your child is ill or showing signs of illness, you must not bring them to us for care. They expose those present in our home to infection. When a youngster is sick, they require the comforts of their home, plus the love and attention of a parent. Your co-operation in this matter is very important and much appreciated.

Every effort is made to reduce the spread of illness by encouraging hand washing. Children who have breakfast with us should bring their own toothbrush and toothpaste to enable them to clean their teeth before playgroup/nursery or school. When a child arrives, he / she will be checked visually for illness. If they become poorly whilst in our care and need to be picked up, we expect a parent to arrive within an hour of or telephoning. If the latter cannot be reached or doesn't appear within the designated time, their emergency contact person will be called and asked to collect the child instead.

If you aren't sure about whether to bring your child, please ring us and we can discuss the matter together...
No Child will be excluded from our care because they have head lice and we ask that all children and parents are sensitive and understanding towards the child. It is not their fault they have head lice.
To further prevent an outbreak, weekly checks should be made with a special head lice comb to aid early detection.

We request that parents inform us immediately if they have discovered that their child has head lice.

Allergy related symptoms and non-communicable illnesses do not require exclusion.
