Baby Weaning Policy
Your baby’s development from breast or formula milk to eating a family meal can be can anxious time for parents of a new baby. Don’t worry if your baby doesn’t each much one day. Appetites vary and what your baby eats over the course of a week is more important. Establishing a good routine from an early age is an important part of your child’s health and development.
We feel that it is a time for you to enjoy and encourage your child’s eating habits at this early stage.
We will endeavour to follow your requirements and will be led by yourselves, however we will ask that we work together to establish healthy eating habits that your child can take forward to adulthood.
We will need to know of any religious or cultural needs of your child and any allergies or intolerances they may have.
We do like to give all children the chance to eat fresh food and drinks that we prepare ourselves, and would like to encourage your child to eat healthy and nutritious food.
We will ask what foods your child has already tried and discuss with you the introduction of new foods as we go along.
We will help and advise where we can but if you are unduly worried you will need to speak to your health visitor.
We do prefer not to give the children anything but milk or water to drink but will work with you if you have other preferences.
We use guidance available from the NHS, this is available from:- http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/PublicationsPolicyAndGuidance/DH_4117080
