Safety
Children in our care will be supervised at all times. Their time of arrival and departure will be noted in our attendance register for every day that they attend, this is so that a complete record of all those present is available, in case of an emergency.
Incidents and accidents are recorded, a copy of which has to be signed by both parent and childminder.
Children will not leave our home with anyone other than the person you have authorised to do so.
Risk assessments are carried out  for all areas of the premises and for all outings. All external doors are locked when the children are playing indoors; the key is kept out of reach of children at all times.
Low-level glass has been covered by safety film where necessary.
Access to the rear garden is securely fenced off and has a lockable gate to ensure their safety.
Equipment and toys are frequently checked and any dangerous items repaired or discarded. All dangerous materials, including medicines and cleaning substances are stored out of reach.
Fire drills are held on a regular basis (all drills are recorded to ensure every child has at least 1 in their first couple of months and an escape plan has been devised. The fire blanket and fire extinguisher are checked regularly for damage and replaced if required. Fire exits are never obstructed
Electric sockets in areas accessible to children are fitted with socket covers.
A correctly stocked first aid box is available at all times in the home, the car, and on trips out. They are checked regularly and replenished when necessary
Activities such as cooking and energetic play are constantly supervised or receive close attention in the case of older children. Children will never be left unattended on outings, in the home or car.
Sleeping children are monitored and checked frequently.
Toys and equipment offered to children are developmentally suitable, and also taken into account, is that items for older children may pose a risk to those younger or less mature.
Any vehicle used to transport children in our care is properly maintained, conforms to legal requirements and a valid driving licence and insurance are held.
Written permission is obtained beforehand from parents (part of the written contract) for children to be transported and at all times they are restrained in an appropriate car seat or belt.
